editorial in the eye,
honest in the heart.
anna mello studios is the wedding photo and film side of what i do — and my own site was the first thing i built for the studio. it had to do double duty: a portfolio that converts couples, and the front door of the broader studio (the dev/design side lives here, at studio.annamellostudios.com).
the brief came from listening to my own bookings: queer couples were arriving on the site and asking, by e-mail, 'are you really queer-friendly or is it just a tag?' the site needed to answer that question before any e-mail.
the build leans cinematic. language gate at entry with the eye sigil — couples pick en or pt before they see anything else. video hero looping ambient wedding footage. audio toggle with curated room sound so people can hear what i'm hearing. italic serif display + sans for body. eye motif as a watermark across the site, soft and present.
queer-led stays in the header at all times, as a pill — the first signal, before any copy.
it's the studio's primary contact point. live at www.annamellostudios.com.
